“God has placed signs in the hands of all the sons of all men that all the sons of men may know his work” OLD TESTAMENT

Before you read another word, look at your hands. What do you see, a confused jumble of lines and bumps? Look again. You're looking at a topographical map of your character in the past, present, and future. You can navigate your map and chart your course.

Palmistry is the 5500-year-old science and art of interpreting character from hands. Size, shape, and proportions of hands reveal one or more of four basic archetypes Intuitive, Practical, Thinking, and Feeling. Texture, color, elasticity and consistency of skin, and the flexibility of joints explain how we initiate, maintain, and adapt to new ideas and circumstances. Lengths and proportions of fingers, knots, shapes of fingertips, and the qualities of nails represent our health, relationships, and how we are fulfilling our potentials in our world around us. Lines of the hands, dermatoglyphics (fixed skin ridge patterns), and gestures reveal more detailed information about our life choices and circumstances. The arts and crafts of interpretation and counseling require study and practice.

The value of reading hands is in being able to readily recognize personality traits, habits and patterns, and motivations. As we identify our strengths and weaknesses, we can alter our thinking, exercise our free will, and transform negative thought patterns into positive behavioral patterns. We can take charge of our thinking, feelings, and actions. Interpreting our hands and understanding our character can inspire and empower us to transform our destinies.

The beauty of reading hands is that hands change as thinking and circumstances change. A tiny change in a hand can represent a huge change in a life. As we make decisions and exercise our free will, we are able to see our successes and failures reflected in our hands over time.

In an anxious world where everyone is searching for answers, Real Palmistry will give seekers a helping hand, their own. Real Palmistry will affirm, confirm, and inform readers in helpful and hopeful ways. Readers will ask their hands Who am I? What do I want? What do I value? What do I think? How do I feel? How can I be happier? How can I be healthier? How are my relationships? What are my obligations? What are my responsibilities? How can I be more prosperous? How can I be more creative? What’s my purpose? What’s my philosophy? How can I be more spiritual? What’s next? We can all be our own best friends and bullshit detectors.

Astrology had been around for thousands of years, when suddenly in 1968, Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs set mass-market astrology in motion. Sun sign columns appeared in magazines and newspapers worldwide. Everyone began asking, “What’s your sun sign?” Over 100,000,000 of Linda’s books were sold with no e-social-networking. Paradoxically, while astrology reveals potential character, hands reveal true character; what we’ve done, do, and are likely to do with our character. After 5,500 years of being relegated to obscurity, misinformation, and deception, the time has come for the ancient science and art of palmistry to be reborn, creating new opportunities for people to interact and get to know themselves and others better. The paradigm of palmistry as a gypsy fortunetelling scam will finally be dispelled. An inspiring new catchphrase for the 21st Century will be “Let me see your hands”.

Real Palmistry will capture the imagination of the masses while addressing their real concerns. In addition to answering fundamental life issues and questions, Real Palmistry covers topics such as hands of family and friends, hands of celebrities, insight into intimate relationships, and gaining insight into the hands of children. Palmistry will eventually become accessible to billions of curious hand owners who will be able to experience the power of palmistry firsthand. Reading hands is simple and fun.

Real Palmistry Your Life is in Your Hands edition by Mark Seltman SelfHelp eBooks

I am one of the lucky people who have had their hands read by Mark Seltman. I have also watched him read the hands of people he was meeting for the first time. His skills are both astonishing and fascinating. Everyone who meets him wants to spend some quality time alone with Mark, while he reads their hands.

Mark begins the book with a very honest account of who he is and why he thinks hand reading is important. I appreciate this because I am always skeptical of everyone's motivations as well as their expertise. Mark also recommends other resources for those who wish to learn more.

The book has an interesting approach that is designed to help the reader identify personality traits based on hand characteristics. Nothing is black and white or simple. The reader will need to spend some time studying his hands to decide which descriptions fit most closely. Finger length, fingertip shapes, texture of skin, flexibility are some of the features that the reader will be examining.

Mark explains the various guidelines and then provides personal anecdotes that are not only entertaining, but help to clarify the lessons. The division of the book into chapters on will power, health, relationships, basic archetypes (intuitive, practical, thinking or feeling), etc. gives you some idea as to the kinds of things you will learn about yourself.

Now, why would you want to read this book? Real Palmistry provides a different avenue to self awareness. It won't change your life any more than the diet book that sits on your bookshelf or the book about clutter that you lost in a pile of papers (yes, I did that once). But if you spend some time to learn about yourself, you might just think more carefully about how you are living your life and then perhaps make some changes.

Am I biased? Yes, I've met Mark and I think he's very sincere and talented. If you get to New York, try to get an appointment with him. It will be time well spent. If you can't get to New York, you can have some fun with this book.

Real Palmistry Your Life is in Your Hands edition by Mark Seltman SelfHelp eBooks Reviews

This work of passion and love is extraordinary, and done by a master of reading hands and living to the best of your potential. I would recommend the book to everyone, particularly if you are interested in how to take charge of your own life. Who isn't interested in that? Seltman makes it accessible, interesting and fun to read, as well as informative.
This book introduces the reader to the art of palm reading in a novel way. Mark debunks myths and is very systematic, almost scientific in his approach, which is this book's definite advantage over other more esoteric-oriented titles. Must-read for all curious about what a wealth of useful information is waiting to be unlocked in one's palm. Experienced readers will also benefit, especially from the chapter categorizing and summarizing all the palm's features.
Mark Seltman's Real Palmistry is just that grounded, detailed, and accessible. Seltman is a true scholar and a humanist, both of which are deeply needed in approaching the art and science of palm reading. You won't find anyone more knowledgeable and skilled at palmistry, or a better book on the subject. If the idea of palmistry is new to you, or you have a hard time understanding how the hand expresses a person and their life, you may look to the laws of nature in the universe our hands are a mirror for the unseen.
I like the author but this book feels like it's just trying to convince you of the benefits of Palm reading. It never goes in depth on any subject. The author says several times in the book, the subject he is speaking about will be expanded upon later- well its not expanded in this book for sure.
Like the snowflakes, God has given us all completely different and individual hands, and they are fascinating road maps. But trying to understand them is sometimes tedious and confusing. Having read more than a few palmistry books in the past, I finally came across this total gem by Mark Seltman. It is an excellent primer-plus, giving great insight into fingers, hands and palms, in the most easily understandable format I've ever come across. Can't wait for the next one from Mark.
I really like this book. I've read more than a few palmistry books and this is something else. It does teach palm reading, but differently from any other book I've read. While most books are divided into chapters looking at different sections of the hand - the mounts, the various lines, the fingers - this book is about concepts like will power, creativity, health and perception. Sure he talks about the mounts and lines and fingers, but he presents it in an interesting and unique way. Another reviewer wrote that Mark approaches reading in a rather scientific manner and I agree. It's not presented esoterically

Mark (I don't feel presumptuous calling him Mark because his book is so friendly, like you're chatting with a someone you've know for a while) tells stories and anecdotes about his life as a palm reader (and his life) and dispenses his philosophy about reading and, through this, the reader learns how to read palms.

There are many pictures that illustrate his points and he includes web links as further reference.

Because it's not the typical palm reading book, Real Palmistry should be read often. I think that's the best way to internalize the material. Next time, I may take notes as I read.

At the end of the book, the Keywords section sums everything up.

One reviewer gave Real Palmistry a poor review and felt he didn't learn anything from it. I'm guessing that he was looking for a more traditional teaching book. If that's the case, I see his point, but disagree with his review. There is much to be learned in this unique book and I think the format will help the reader learn and understand it faster and longer.
